Here are a few applications I recommend

  • Mozilla Firefox Web Browser -  Open source web browser
  • AVG Anti-Virus - Free anti-virus
  • iTunes - Free Media Player, includes online store for buying music, as well as buying and renting movies.  Also is a podcast client.
  • Google Earth - Free maping software of the globe!  Think of it as a free interactive atlas, map, and encyclopedia.
  • Picasa - Free easy to use image manipulation program.  If you take digital pictures, but need easy software to manipulate them, put them on the web free, this is the program!
